Meet The Team

Max Thomusseit
Founder and CEO, Maverick Building
"I had a unique entry into the world of homebuilding: Wrestling & racing."
Max Thomusseit grew up in St. Paris, Ohio, and attended the University of Pittsburgh as a Division I wrestler. After college, he was recruited by Hendrick Motorsports and moved to North Carolina to join their team, working on Jimmie Johnson’s pit crew. Max was part of the team that won the 2016 NASCAR Championship Cup, showcasing his commitment to excellence and high performance in every endeavor.
During this time, Max lived on - of all things - a houseboat, where his weekend renovation projects sparked the interest of a local homebuilder. This unexpected opportunity launched his career in homebuilding, where he played a key role in constructing more than 80 single-family homes throughout the region.
Inspired by his passion for craftsmanship and his drive for innovation, Max founded Maverick Building to bring his unique vision of high-performance, high-quality homes to life. Maverick Building focuses on creating thoughtfully designed communities and high performance homes that blend functionality, style, and sustainability.
Outside of work, Max remains an athlete, continually challenging himself through training and outdoor activities. Now calling Charlotte home, Max is passionate about helping others find their own dream homes, built with the same dedication and precision that has defined his career.

Neal
Superintendent at Maverick Building
Neal grew up in West Sussex, England, and spent most of his adult life in London. In 2019, Neal moved to the United States and chose Charlotte, NC, as his new home.
Neal began his career studying architecture at university, but soon realized he had a natural talent for the trades. He attended trade school for plumbing while simultaneously returning to university to study Building Surveying. During his studies, Neal worked various construction jobs, including laborer, hod carrier, and plumber's mate.
After completing his studies, Neal joined a large general contractor in London, where he worked his way up to become a Superintendent. During his time in London, he gained extensive experience refurbishing historic buildings, as well as working on new offices, commercial spaces, high-rises, and residential projects.
Upon moving to Charlotte, Neal spent five years as a Superintendent for a general contractor specializing in industrial and commercial tilt-wall construction. He traveled throughout the Carolinas, managing the construction of large-scale Amazon warehouses, industrial facilities, office buildings, and even a medical manufacturing facility.
Outside of work, Neal enjoys staying active by going to the gym, hiking, and recently taking up yoga. He loves traveling to new countries and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. Neal is also a big fan of English football (soccer).

After High School, Ben graduated from the University of South Carolina where he studied Ancient History. Upon graduation, Ben returned to his lifelong passion of construction and real estate.
